Memorial Day Weekend we went out to DuPont State Forest (about 10 miles from my parents place in Brevard) for some mountain biking. We'd heard rumors that the biking was super-friendly for beginning and moderate bikers and t.
I was finally feeling a little better (and rather more than determined to get outside and forget about being sick).
Here's my bike happily on trail.
We covered about 13 miles. Most of it wider trails that weren't that interesting, but the single track to Bridal Veil Falls was perfect! Some challenging sections that scared me the perfect amount, and then awesome flowing sections that were super-fun.
The mountain laurel were blooming... so freaking beautiful.
This was Memorial Day, so of course the trails were pretty crowded. And I chose to visit a number of waterfalls (without considering that those would likely be the well-worn, wider trails). So we didn't get as much single track in as we'd hoped, but we'll be back.
And the falls were really pretty. Bridal Veil Falls:

Definitely fun riding.
