Nostalgia

I grew up near Annapolis, MD. I lived in the same house my entire childhood. My parents moved and I hadn't been back to the area since 2004. Part of this east coast swing was about visiting my old house and eating crab cakes in Annapolis (Bracken hadn't had "real" crab cakes yet.)

We left Skyline Drive a little early and hoped to arrive in Millersville early afternoon and then we planned on crab cakes for lunch and a few hours to walk around Annapolis.

I neglected to consider DC traffic.

Here we are on the beltway. It took us an hour to go four miles. That was the slowest, but overall, it took us four hours to go what was supposed to take us only one.

Ugh.

We made it to Maryland!

And finally, late afternoon, to Millersville.

The house was minus a few trees, but was looking pretty good. The owner let us inside to peek around. It was really cool to share memories with Bracken.

This is the Big Tree behind our house that the neighborhood kids gathered under and my sister and I played for hours with our matchbox cars and Adventure People.

Stormy skies over Annapolis.

The place I'd been planning on taking Bracken for crab cakes had closed, so we relied on Yelp and Foursquare to lead us to the Boatyard Bar & Grill.

And the crab cakes. Oh... they were so good! The picture is terrible, but I had to include it because they were just that good.
