Friday afternoon (June 23rd) we made it to Spearfish, SD and into the nearby canyon where we'd heard rumors of some pretty kickass sport climbing.
Yep. Beautiful limestone cliffs throughout the canyon.
We found a campsite and enjoyed a late afternoon of climbing in the shade.
That night, just as we were finishing dinner, the thunder rolled in. We hurried up our cleaning routine and hunkered down in the tent for an amazing light show with sound effects. The storm stuck around with heavy rains for awhile, but finally let up as we were drifting off to sleep.
I have to say, our tent totally rocks!
Drying out the next morning:
Saturday morning we got a few more climbs in before the heat drove us off. I should say that Bracken got a few more amazing climbs in. I got one in and called it a day.
Oh climbing... I love you even though you seem to challenge me almost Every. Single. Time.
