Acadia National Park

Late Thursday night, June 7th, we rolled into Acadia National Park in a light rain.

t

We found our campsite and, exhausted from a long work-and-drive day, fell asleep pretty quickly.

The next morning we set up our tent and began to explore the park. We were going to be in one place for two full days!

We checked out the climbing at a crag called The Precipice and met a really nice older climber who took the time to give us a quick tour of the moderate routes (and his favorites) in the area.

Our first climb:

The Precipice:

Sand beach was cold! The wind was whipping and clouds were coming in. It was going to be a rainy night.

It rained all night, but we woke up sun and warm air. Our campsite was a short walk to the beach, so in the morning we took our coffee here:

We hiked up to Cadillac Mountain via the West Face (shortest, but steepest route). The rocks were still pretty wet on the way up, so I got a little sketched out, but the way down was much easier (the sun dried the rocks pretty quickly).

Me:

It's always funny to arrive at the summit of a hike and find all kinds of tourists hanging out after driving to the top via the road.

But the view was gorgeous. The view from the top:

The next day we returned to the crag and got on Old Town:

When we got back to our campsite, we had neighbors who had the exact same tent (and funny enough, were from Colorado as well).

We enjoyed a shower and one more night in the tent. Our campfire was quite fickle, so we turned in early and got a blissful night's sleep.
